          Obzerv Technologies Inc. ( http://www.obzerv.com ) has received a contract from Bharat Electronics Ltd. to supply 46 ARGC-2400 cameras. Obzerv’s electro-optic cameras will be integrated by Bangalore-based defense Public Sector Company Bharat Electronics Ltd. (BEL) in a multi sensors Coastal Surveillance System. Each system to be supplied to Indian Coastguard will include: the ARGC-2400, a thermal imager, a radar station and meteorological sensors, all of which will be mounted on lighthouses and towers. While the radars and thermal imagers will be dedicated to targets detection, the ARGC-2400 cameras will be used to classify and identify those targets to provide situational awareness and the ability to counter a threat.

          Ever since the 2008 Mumbai attack, the Indian Coast Guard’s mandate was to find the best surveillance solution including a camera system operating day and night to identify any suspect vessel at long distances. The Coast Guard selected BEL to provide such turnkey surveillance solution, which in turn selected an Electro Optic System based on Obzerv ARGC-2400 camera after an international competition lasting many months. Among many features, the main advantage of the long-range night vision cameras developed by Obzerv is their capabilities to perform long-range identification using Obzerv’s unique Patent Pending pulse laser source.

          This program is the first phase of the Indian coastal surveillance project designed to cover the entire coast. “Nowadays, long-range identification of a potential threat is of the utmost importance and the ARGC-2400 is up for the challenge. - 40 Gbps Wavelength Network to Offer Asia-leading 54.8Tbps Total Design Capacity -

NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com) announced that it joined numerous other telecommunications carriers in Asia on December 20 in signing a contract for the construction and maintenance of the Asia Pacific Gateway (APG), an undersea cable network that is scheduled to launch by June 2014 with a total design capacity of 54.8 terabit-per-second (Tbps). The contract will become effective by March 2012.

The network initially will use the latest 40 gigabit-per-second (Gbps) wavelength technology and is designed to accommodate 100 Gbps wavelength technology for increasing efficiency and high-capacity.

The APG will connect most countries and regions of East Asia via landing sites in Korea, Japan, Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore and others. Participating carriers besides NTT Com include Chunghwa Telecom (Taiwan), KT Corporation (Korea) and many others. The cabling route was chosen carefully to avoid damage from natural disasters such as earthquakes and typhoons.

Demands for international broadband communications are increasing among both enterprises and consumers in the Asian region, reflecting the ongoing expansion of markets and growing use of cloud services. Demands are also increasing for redundant networks that can help enterprises ensure business continuity by minimizing the effects on their communications due to network damage.

NTT Com continues to add new cable networks to provide customers in Asia with increasing capacity as well as greater redundancy for strengthened reliability. The company has participated in the construction of an undersea cable network, named the Asia Submarine-cable Express (ASE), to enhance its provision of global network services and cloud services in the Asian region. The cable will be launched by June 2012 with 40 Gbps wavelength technology and the capability to incorporate 100 Gbps technology in the future.

NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com) announced on December 19 that it has expanded the data-transmission capacity of its Global IP Network between Japan and the United States to an industry-leading 600 gigabits per second (Gbps). The new capacity, equivalent to approximately 35,000 channels of digital terrestrial television or more than five centuries’ worth of content in a daily newspaper, further enhances the company’s leadership in Tier-1 trans-Pacific IP connectivity.

NTT Com’s global IP backbones are connected to fixed and mobile telecom companies, Internet service providers (ISPs), data center operators and content providers, enabling customers to meet their growing needs for Internet capacity betweenJapanand theUnited States. Although a part of the cable was damaged following the March 2011 earthquake, it was quickly repaired with minimum disconnection. This was thanks to the fully redundant cable structure and collaborative efforts with multiple carriers and cable companies, based on an established cooperative relationship. The network, which is IPv4 and IPv6 dual-stuck, is one of NTT Com’s core IPv6 networks.

Demand for high-capacity bandwidth has been growing rapidly in recent years, reflected in the seven-fold increase in NTT Com’s Japan-U.S. bandwidth between 2005 and 2010. This latest jump — from 500 Gbps to 600 Gbps in just four months — aims to cater to even stronger demand being generated in today’s cloud-computing, micro-blogging, social network and online media-intensive environment.

NTT Com Global IP Network Background

NTT Com launched the precursor of its current Global IP Network Service with a 45 megabits per second (Mbps) service in 1997. U.S.–Japan bandwidth was dramatically increased to 1 Gbps when the company acquired Verio and its Tier-1 IP backbone in 2000. NTT Com became the first network provider to measure network-latency variability with a jitter-type service level agreement (SLA) in 2005. The reliability of the NTT Com Global IP Network was capably demonstrated in December 2006, when network traffic was rerouted with minimal delay following a destructive undersea earthquake offTaiwan. NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com) announced on November 17 that its global telecommunications-carrier partners attending the Arcstar Carrier Forum 2011 inKobe,Japanfrom November 15 to 16 committed to enhancing their delivery and operation of NTT Com’s Arcstar (TM) global network services.

Celebrating its ninth gathering since establishment in 2000, the Arcstar Carrier Forum is an international conference aimed at strengthening the global delivery and operation of Arcstar-brand managed network services. The forum facilitates service-quality improvements and strengthened customer satisfaction by setting goals for partner telecoms that provide delivery of Arcstar services in countries worldwide. Partner telecoms relay NTT Com’s global networks to their home markets and in some cases to other national markets. NTT Com also provides Arcstar services directly in many markets.

The major topic of this year’s Forum was customer-oriented operations for comprehensively enhanced service quality. The participants agreed to implement best practices to improve service availability, lower number of outages per line, improve time to repair, provide customers with real-time information and detailed disclosure of failures and related follow-up, and strictly adhere to service-delivery deadlines.

Arcstar services include IP-VPN, e-VLAN, leased line and Arcstar Universal One, a cloud-optimized network service that securely links closed enterprise networks with global cloud services. NTT Com enables customers to optimize networks on a comprehensive basis through Arcstar services without having to contact different vendors for each aspect of IT infrastructure.

Representatives from various enterprise customers spoke at the Forum to emphasize the benefits that NTT Com partners can have on customer operations through the high-quality delivery of Arcstar services.
